Geez! You'd think Mom would let me at the computer more. Her average seems to be once every six months. ;-)
Lots has happened since my last post. The biggest of which is - Mom registered me in preschool! I'm so excited. All the friends I'm going to meet; all the things I'm going to learn.
I've been recognizing letters for awhile now, but just in the last month or so I'm starting to recognize words, like my name and the word cat. Mom's very excited about it and I love pointing out my name to her in books and magazines because she gets so excited and hugs and kisses me and tells me how smart I am. So I do it all the time now. Not a day goes by where my ego doesn't get stroked! ;-)
I started Movement Class last Thursday and it's SO much fun! I learned to row a boat and walk through a cave and skate and carry a backpack and hold a flashlight. It's an hour long and I've met all kinds of new people and the teachers are so nice.
Gavin is walking, running, jumping, climbing and still drooling! Boys are busy - who knew? ;-)
He can say all sorts of things like 'Hi Dad' and 'Wow' and 'Look at this', although you usually need Mom to be around to interpret. And he just started waving 'Hi' and 'Bye', which Mom thinks is great. She hugs and kisses him uncontrollably too. Hmmm? Are you seeing a pattern here? I think I am...
Mom has promised a new craft for Friday (that's craft day around here). It's called Puffed Art. She never heard of it before and just read about it in an old book and she's all excited...apparently we bake it in the oven and it's made of cotton balls. Colour me scared! I'll post photos and directions...IF (notice the large letters) it works...

All Toilet Trained and Gavin has SIX teeth
It's been awhile I know and I'm sorry, as I know Gavin is for not posting on this blog.
I'm totally toilet trained know including sleeping through the night with just panties on. No pull-ups for this kat! ;-) It was actually really easy in hind sight, but boy when you're going through it...Oy!
Mom totally recommends The Potty Trainer for those who are just way over their heads in this area, as she was.
Gavin is growing in leaps and bounds, I'm only a few pounds heavier than him! He has six teeth, eating our grownup food which is great, but he must be getting more teeth, because he's really drooly. Ewwwww!
I've got lots more to talk about about: swimming, summer vacation, gardening with mom, and an EKG.
Stay tuned...Emma.

McDonald's PlayZone

My parents, Gavin and I went out and about on Saturday to get some errands done. For supper we stopped at McDonald's. This is a treat in and of itself because we hardly ever go there. But wait, it gets better...
They let me play in the PlayZone!
I was the smallest kid there (besides Gavin) and I had the most fun! I was a bit intimidated at first, but a nice older girl took me by the hand to show me the way and that's all I needed. I was off and running after that!
The slide was the best part. I would come down and every time Dad was there to catch me. So fun!
I think Gavin needs to be a bit older to appreciate the sheer joy of McDonald's PlayZone - he kept crying. Poor little guy. Mom thinks it was a bit to much ruckus for his little ears to handle all at once.
He'll just have to get used to it though, because Mom and Dad promised to bring me there again. I can't wait!

Emma Accessorized Gavin!

They brought back beads for Emma!
Em decided I looked good in beads and high heals...for some reason Dad didn't concur. ;-)

We Are Sick
Both Gavin and I are sick and have been for awhile now, hence the no posting on our blog.
I have an upper respiratory infection and an ear infection, and therefore am on my first bit of antibiotics EVER. It tastes YuCkY!
Gavin has bronchitis, poor little guy, and is on his first bit of antibiotics too. His medicine tastes better I think, first of all its pink, and second of all he sucks it back like there's no tomorrow. Lucky Duck!
But we're both getting better now, it took a couple of days for the antibiotics to kick in, but now that they have, we're both feeling better. Not crying as much, eating better, and much to Mom's happiness, we're sleeping through the night again.
In was a tough go for a bit, but all is well again!

Tipping The Scales
I'm 15 pounds!
Emma is almost two and a half years old and only weighs 22 pounds.
Mom is having a hard time lugging me around and is hoping I start crawling soon...hello! I'm only three and a half months mom, its not going to be happening any time soon! Silly woman.
So do any moms out there have tips on 'lugging' their porkers around? Mom needs all the advice she can get!

Sleeping Through The Night
I'm sleeping through the night and Mama is knocking on wood!
She's ecstatic! From 8pm to 7am - it's amazing! I just all of a sudden started sleeping through the night and last night was the third night, so it can't be a coincidence, or at least she hopes.
And it was perfect timing too, because Mom was sick-o-la since about Wednesday and it really took its toll on Friday. She even asked Dad to stay home from work, which he did until 8:30am. (That might not seem like much to you, but he normally leaves the house between 6:30am and 7:00am, so Mom was thankful!) So when Friday night came along and she was drug-out, coughing and snotting, she was DREADING the 2:30am feeding... But, I slept through the night! Then again on Saturday and again last night. She's ecstatic!
And she's hoping it lasts...

Forgotten Child...Already?!
Ok. I've heard that the second and subsequent children are a bit less 'cared' for, but this is ridiculous!
There is not one photo of me enjoying my first Christmas - how horrible is that?!
There are plenty of Emma, in her 'Princess' costume, etc., but not ONE of me.
All I have to say to that is 'BLAH'!
Gavin.

We're All Sick!
I was sick and now Gavin is sick (but not Mom, she refuses)! I had the Croup last week and now Gavin is sick with a cold this week.
Mom is a bit angry with her breast milk because she says it’s suppose to protect babies from illness and infection – she figures she has to up the anty. So she’s garlic-ing herself up with some homemade Garlic Chicken Soup.
Mom fixed me up with lots of cuddles and she let me eat chicken noodle soup in the living room while laying on the couch – that was a first and sort of fun! She also sent Dad into town to buy a Cool Mist Humidifier. She now refers to it as her ‘secret weapon’.
But with Gavin…poor snotty Gavin! He’s so itty-bitty, how will she fix him? I’m sure it’ll all pan-out. Besides Gavin has his two-month check-up on Thursday, so the wonderful Dr. Heeg is sure to fix him all up!
I'll keep you posted...Emma

Sleeping Through The Night
I'm 6 weeks old and already I'm sleeping through the night! Sort of... Better than Emma ever did at this age anyway, or so Mum tells me.
Emma slept in approximately 2 hour spans until she was 3 1/2 months old, I sleep inconsistently but never any less than 2 hours and more likely three or more. For example last night, I slept from 9:30pm until 3:00am - Mum said 'wow' and 'thank you'! ;-)
In Sleeping Through the Night: How Infants, Toddlers, and Their Parents Can Get a Good Night's Sleep
by Jodi A. Mindell, Ph.D. she states that 'breast-fed babies are notorious for taking longer...to sleep through the night' so Mum and Dad decided to try giving me a bottle of formula at my bedtime feeding at 8:00pm to test the theory that formula helps people like me (babies) sleep through the night more readily. A couple of nights into the experiment, and the theory seems to be holding true...for the most part. It seems to depend on how much I drink, which makes sense - if I'm hungry, I wake up.
Another thing Mum and Dad are doing is trying to get me into a bedtime routine. For instance Emma's routine is like this: bum changed, jammies on, snacks and a cup of milk, teeth brushed, Goodnight Moon
read, hugs and kisses from Dad, cuddles with Mum, lights out. She sleeps from 8:00pm until 8:00am.
So now, Mum wants me to get into the groove too. But she's finding it difficult because of course I'm not always ready for bed at 8:00pm and sometimes Em or Dad are lagging behind. I'm sure she'll get it though, as will I...eventually...
